Ondřej Mucha Ondřej Mucha graduated from the Evangelical Academy Conservatoire in Kroměříž in 2007 by completing a course in organ play led by MgA. Karel Hiner. After that he went on studying organ play by attending the course of Sacred Music Conducting at the University of Hradec Králové in the class led by Dr. František Vaníček and consulting prof. Jiří Strejc at the same time. During his studies he took part in the International Interpretative Competition in Slovakia where he won second prize for organ play. He further extended his professional qualifications by attending The International Music Master Classes at Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno under prof. Kamila Klugarová. He is currently studying organ play at the Academy of Performing Arts Bratislava in the class of doc. Imrich Szabó, Art. D. During his studies Ondřej Mucha participated in a number of interpretation courses led by foreign organ players, such as Martin Sander (Germany), Susan Landale (France), Theo Jellema (Holland), Jon Laukvik (Norway), Waclaw Golonka (Poland). Ondřej Mucha is engaged in regular concert activities both in the Czech Republic and abroad. In recent years he has performed in more than 150 full-length concerts of organ music both as a soloist and in cooperation with soprano Magdalena Vlasáková. His extensive concert activities include a concert series at the anniversary of MUDr. Celestýn Opitz held by the Order of the Merciful Brothers, a concert series of Antonín Dvořák’s works, a concert series at the 60th death anniversary of a significant organ virtuoso and composer prof. Bedřich Antonín Wiedermann, the International Festival of Organ Music in Olesnica (Poland), concerts of organ improvisation accompanied by the recitation of spiritual texts, to name but a few. Apart from his concert activities Ondřej Mucha devotes himself to church music as an organist and composer. He plays the organ in the monastery church of St John of Nepomuk in Prostějov, where he founded the cycle of Advent and Christmas concerts, the church of St Peter and Paul and the church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross. As a composer he devotes himself mostly to writing songs and short choral compositions.
Last but not least, Ondřej Mucha is engaged in teaching. He teaches organ
play at Bohuslav Balbín Bishop Grammar School in Hradec Králové and gives
lectures on liturgical music, organ play and organ improvisation in the
classes for church organists held by the Grammar School of Saints Cyril
and Methodius in Prostějov. In 2012 Ondřej Mucha was awarded a prize for
outstanding pedagogical guidance within the organ competition ORGANUM
REGIUM.
